Biotech … Test & Reverse

This week, biotech XBI, broke below support and then came back to test.

Today printed a new daily low (and closed lower), indicating the test may be complete.

Five Below … Breakout Fails

Once Again, The Pattern Repeats

It’s been one (potentially) false breakout after another.

So far, we have Alcoa, Simon Property Group, and now, Five Below.

Before continuing, trade AA-26-03, Alcoa short. closed: Profit 2.51% (not advice, not a recommendation).

The expectation was for decisive downside; it wasn’t happening

Now, back to FIVE.

The longer-term chart shows what’s taking place in this market and the markets overall, is on a massive scale.

Five Below FIVE, Weekly

The zoom area has five weeks of tight congestion.

That was followed by an attempted upside breakout last week, which (so far) has failed.

The stop on short-trade FIVE-26-01, is set at just above Friday’s high, 239.52 (not advice, not a recommendation).

Alcoa … Top, Drop, Test

Today’s new daily low, indicates test of the up-thrust reversal (below), is complete.

During yesterday’s open, as the initial minutes pushed action higher, a short was opened (not advice, not a recommendation).

As Linda Rashke just got done telling us:

‘You need to have the market available (for your position) to take or provide your ‘inventory’

That means, selling out the longs or going short as the market is liquid or rising (not advice, not a recommendation).

Cadence … Lying in Wait

Repeating Pattern, Near Complete

There have been two short-position trades (not discussed on this site) in Cadence CDNS, so far this year.

Both were small losses.

After the last trade on March 5th, notes were made on the watch-list chart, to the effect:

‘Wait for the up-thrust’

Fast-forward to today.

If CDNS manages to finish the day above the close of March 4th (305.43), it would then be in up-thrust position (not advice, not a recommendation).

Across the pond, the U.K. seems ready to introduce Universal Basic Income; welcome to Neo Feudalism.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch in Germany, we have Survival Lilly giving us updates near daily, on that pending implosion.

With all of that said, including the military hijinks in the straight, you would think uncertainty results in oil prices ever higher.

Intel … After The Open

Set-Up & Go

The set-up in Intel (INTC) is more than just ‘selling the rip’.

We have a repeating pattern with a high expectation.

Meaning, the probabilities of a reversal to the downside with this type of set-up is greater than 50% chance (not advice, not a recommendation).

As of this update (11:10 a.m., EST) INTC has decisively penetrated support and is now hovering at that level.

What’s missing in the way of confirmation is either a reversal bar today, or a new daily low during tomorrow’s session.

Intel INTC, Daily

With the mega-cap Nvidia almost instantly retracing its opening highs, it may be leading the pack lower.

If that’s the case, the entire sector is at risk of following NVDA to the downside (not advice, not a recommendation).

Semiconductors SOXX, Daily

We have the following technical conditions:

Penetration above established resistance levels.

Fibonacci 21-Days, from all-time highs.

Fibonacci 13-Days, from the March 9th low.

Fibonacci 61.8% retrace on print basis and 50% retrace on close basis.

Short position, AIG-26-01, was closed out with a tiny loss.

From the chart, it’s been five successive weekly highs, and higher lows.

With the knowledge a reversal can happen at any time, looking at the chart with its ‘spring’ condition, what’s the next (most likely) target?
