Reversal On ‘Week 89’ ?

The tape is saying ‘This could be it’.

No one knows if this is ‘The top’, or just ‘A top’, until it’s all over (not advice, not a recommendation).

This update for Nvidia, said we’re nearing Fibonacci Week 89 (from the October ’22, lows); look for evidence of a reversal.

With three-hours left in the session, NVDA is on track (along with the SOXX) to posting a weekly reversal bar.

The chart updated to show we’re at ‘Week 89’.

The fact (minus 3-hours) we’re getting a reversal bar on ‘Week 89’, is potential validation of the Fibonacci count.

The market itself is telling us where to look.

With the prior update letting us know the air is going out of support for continued A.I., today’s action may be a significant reversal (not advice, not a recommendation).

The Plug, Has Been Pulled

Markets reverse in a typical way; first is ‘sentiment’, then ‘volume’, then ‘price’.

According to this link, looks like we have sentiment aplenty; evaporating sentiment, that is.

As stated by Mr. Fred Hickey, VC (Venture Capital) funding peaked last year and has dropped over 75%, since then; that’s the ‘sentiment’ part of the equation.

Where’s The Top?

From a Wyckoff perspective, using his analysis (here and here) as a basis of speculation, that’s the wrong question (not advice, not a recommendation).

If we’re expecting some kind of massive reversal (which we are), then the objective is to look for the weakest sectors, not the strongest.

Frequent users of this site already know that work’s been done. One of, if not the weakest sector(s), is Biotech (not advice, not a recommendation).

Is Today, The Day?

With that said, as this post is being created (1:20 p.m., EST), the sector at the center of bubble attention, the SOXX, may have just completed a wedge ‘throw-over’.

At this point, the SOXX, may be in the process of validating the terminating wedge (not advice, not a recommendation).

As Fred Hickey said, it’s the biggest bubble he’s ever seen.

It’s ‘Week 89’, for NVDA

Then, There’s The Lawsuit

Did we just hear ‘The Bell’, the top, for Nvidia?

The last update said to watch for Fibonacci correlation as NVDA, nears Week 89.

This week is that week; today, price action was gap-up higher, then reversal.

It could all amount to nothing with NVDA continuing higher at the next session.

Then, there’s the lawsuit; an old one, that’s been revived.

Is it important or is it an ‘Archduke Ferdinand‘ event?

Looking the daily chart, it’s clear, upward action is running out of steam.

Missing from the chart is a new daily low to help confirm that we’re at least in a congestion or setting up for a significant reversal (not advice, not a recommendation).

As we saw in yesterday’s update with bullet item No. 7, it’s all about the numbers.

SOXX … Bump & Run

Exit Or Not?

Trader Discretion.

SOXX hit the stop level (just barely) listed in this post.

We’ve all heard the stories of getting stopped out just as the market took off.

Is that what’s happening now?

From a personal standpoint, I am maintaining the SOXX short (via SOXS), but will have to monitor the action throughout the day.

If there’s no significant retrace lower, or we post another daily high (low on the SOXS) the trade is closed (not advice, not a recommendation).

The SOXX, Looking Both Ways

Narrowing Risk or Preparing For Higher?

In the pre-market, the SOXX is up about +1.29%, trading at 236.90.

As discussed in the ‘comment’ section of the prior update, if last Friday was short covering, the expectation was for a lower open.

So, far it’s not there, or there’s more ‘covering’ to go.

From a Fibonacci standpoint (shown below), pre-market action is near the 61.8% retrace.

As of this post (8:15 a.m., EST) SOXX is trading at the Fibonacci level (small black ‘brackets’ on the chart).

We can see that area is also resistance.

In-n-Out

This is what working at ‘the edge of the lake’ is all about.

Price action has not shown decisively whether it will continue higher or if we’re in a reversal.

A decisive push past Friday’s SOXX high, 237.35, likely means it’s going to attempt to close the gap left from the May 29th open (not advice, not a recommendation).

Looking at it both ways, the risk on a short position is being lowered further, or we’re on to new summertime highs (like August 1987) before potential reversal.

Bubble Trouble

Is This, The Extreme?

Previous top and reversal analysis of the SOXX, and its chief cook and bottle washer, Nvidia, have been premature.

Analysis, correct for a while, only to be negated by more upward action.

So, we have to ask ourselves;

‘Do we feel lucky?’ 🙂

Actually, luck does not have much to do with it; let’s go to the action itself.

First, the long-term view of largest cap, Nvidia.

We can clearly see Prechter’s ‘Rule of alternation’ at work.

Complex, simple, complex and so on.

Note the massive upward spike in Thrust Energy (middle panel).

We’re less than a month away from completing the 2nd Quarter. It looks like thrust energy is, or will be, diverging (not advice, not a recommendation).

Moving on to the SOXX.

Recently, the week of April 19th, there was a significant downard thrust.

A similar thrust (blue arrows) resulted in a decline lasting ten months, dropping approximately -45.35%.

However, in the case above, the reversal has yet to materialize … or has it?

Last week posted outside-down, but did not close outside-down.

It leaves the probability open for upward action.

However, from a risk standpoint, it’s The Danger Point®.

If we use last week’s high, SOXX 243.63, as a hard stop, the cost of being wrong positioned short, is least (not advice, not a recommendation).

Silver Top … Part VI

Top Or Channel?

The market itself, tells us where to look.

The past five ‘Silver Top’ updates have looked at recent action, as a potential top and downside reversal.

The ‘Part V’, update (link here), included a ‘measured move’ target.

In the markets, an infinite number of events can be true simultaneously. Dr. Elder covers this in his book, with individual traders working multiple timeframes.

All of which brings us to the chart below.

Silver SLV, Monthly

From previous updates, we’re hovering around the support resistance zone.

Now, we can see price action’s also hitting the top of a trading channel.

The question of course is, what’s the next likely outcome?

Even without considering what else is going on in other markets, a pause, sideways congestion, or downward testing seems to be the highest probability (not advice, not a recommendation).

Did The ‘Bubble’ Just Pop?

When we do take other events into account, wide swings in the SOXX on Friday, Nvidia posting a narrow range weekly bar, a potential top indicator, Ed Dowd said, when this all implodes, there’ll be margin calls aplenty.

The technical situation of the SOXX, is planned for tomorrow’s update.

A Wyckoff up-thrust accompanied by a divergence in momentum indicator, MACD.

We’re literally inches away from an outside down week; SOXX, currently trading (as of 11:02 a.m., EST) at 230.12 and last week’s low at 228.85

SOXX Action … Tight & Tighter

Was Today, The ‘Tightest’?

The last update on the SOXX (using inverse SOXS), said we closed out the day, last Friday, with five-hourly bars of tight price action.

Tight action implies a directional, breakout move of some sort; expecting downward, for the SOXX (not advice, not a recommendation).

It didn’t happen.

What we got instead, shown below, is price action that’s even tighter.

Since the last update used the 3X Leveraged Inverse Fund SOXS, we’ll continue with that, but move to a 30-minute timeframe.

The boxes outline price action that has become increasingly more and more constricted.

Obviously, something’s about to happen … but what?

Data Release

Tomorrow’s the release of PPI data along with a couple of Fed speeches.

Not that the ‘data’ really matters. Anyone with two basis points rubbing together should already know about accuracy of ‘the data’.

Even so, it can be used as an excuse for market manipulation.

So, let’s see what happens next.

SOXX From The ‘Short Side’

A Look At Leveraged Inverse: SOXS

Just a reminder, the Inverse Fund trades contacts that rise in value if the tracking fund (in this case, the SOXX) declines in value.

Add to that some 3-X leverage and it’s a potential rocket in either direction.

The last update on the SOXX, link here, said we’re at The Danger Point® and since then, nothing has changed.

At the open today, SOXX posted an attempt to launch higher that was quickly reversed. Price action then spent the rest of the day in a narrow trading range.

So, what happens now?

For a look at the probabilities, we’re going to use the 3X leveraged inverse fund SOXS.

What we’re highlighting here on the hourly, is net distance traveled on the down move (upward in SOXX), getting shorter with each successive thrust.

Add to that, ‘tight’ hourly bars for five-hours of the trading session.

Tight action precedes (typically) some type of directional move or breakout (not advice, not a recommendation).

Obviously, with tight action in the upper half of the day’s trading range, one would expect a directional, breakout move to the upside (downside for SOXX).
